Hello everyone, my name is Ruth Malanbo Mulunda and this is my mission experience.
It was my first time attending an impact mission outreach. At the beginning, I was so scared to go. Being away from my friends, family, and everything I knew and loved was going to be difficult. But after so much thought and prayer, I eventually mustered the courage and decided to go along with the other missionaries.
We went to Ngabwe, a rural district in Central Province. On the day of departure, we spent a night at a church and the next day we had a six-hour drive on a gravel road to the mission site.
The following morning, we were all assigned roles that we would play in the mission, and I was given the role of Children’s Ministries Leader.
The role was specifically aimed at teaching children and giving them hope that indeed there is a Savior who really cares for them.
The biggest problem that I had at that time was the language barrier because most of the people in Ngabwe speak Lenje.
The long walks and the constant tiredness made everything harder, but with time, God gave me the strength to teach these children.
It was so spirit-filled, and each and every time the children would see me, they would rejoice because they knew that they would have a good time at the feet of their Savior.
Till today, I don’t understand how God managed to use me to minister to children in a language that I couldn’t even understand, but I guess that’s what God does.
God gave me the strength to share His love through songs, stories, and many fun activities. I was able to imprint in their young minds a unique perspective about God and how much He cares for little children.
Furthermore, I learned that God is willing to use anyone that offers themselves up for His work. By doing His work, He perfects us to a higher calling, a calling that is greater than us. I felt mission, feeling more passionate about God’s work than I had ever been before.
Those experiences I had and connections I made in Ngabwe continue to guide me and keep me rooted.
I thank God for Impact Mission, for rekindling my relationship with God and helping me spark His love to others.
This is my mission experience.
